About Tanjung Maintenance Services Sdn Bhd.

Tanjung Maintenance Service Sdn Bhd ("TMS") was incorporated on 24 May 1996 to provide integrated maintenance services to the oil and gas operators in Malaysia and the region. TMS is a subsidiary of Tanjung Offshore Berhad and is operating primarily from its services centres situated in Kemaman, Labuan and Miri.

The Service centres in Kemaman, Labuan and Miri provide a "one stop" maintenance services to various upstream oil and gas operators such as Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Shell Berhad, Exxon Mobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. Talisman Malaysia Limited, Petrofab. Co Ltd and others. The Kemaman Service centre also provide various maintenance services to downstream petrochemical and power plants situated between the Paka and Gebeng such as. Petronas Dagangan Sdn Bhd, Petronas Penapisan (Terengganu) Sdn Bhd, Petronas Gas Berhad, BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd and, Optimal, BP Chemical , MTBE, Huntsman Tioxide , TCOT , Petlin etc. The Labuan & Miri service centres can also provide maintenance services to the whole of oil & gas and petrochemical industry in Sabah & Sarawak.

TMS' range of maintenance services at its operation centres in Kemaman , Labuan & Miri includes the following : -

  • Services, repair, overhaul & test various types of rotating equipment
  • Services, repair, retrofit & test all types of valves
  • Fabrication parts and machining
  • Metal coating or metal spray
  • Rotor dynamic balancing
  • On-line greasing or lubrication
  • Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) such as vibration monitoring, Schedule oil sampling (SOS) and thermography.
  • Service, repair, overhaul and test internal combustion Engine
We have a total workforce of [102] which includes 13 management, 16 non - technical and 73 technical staff. They are qualified and trained for various specialized maintenance services for the oil and industry such as professional engineer, vibration specialist, machinist, rotating equipment specialist, valve specialist etc.

Under the leadership of its chief executive officer ("CEO"), Abdul Mutalid Bin Idris, TMS has secured various contracts since incorporation. Early this year, TMS has successfully clinched the lucrative long term (5 years to extend for another 2 year) maintenance contract from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd. Mutalib has over 16 years on hands - on working experience in the area of material and material handling management in the oil and gas industry obtained via his attachment with various large corporations. His experience includes, amongst others, procurement and materials management, reengineering of business process in the area of materials management, structuring and establishing logistics arrangement for multi - nationals petroleum companies and assessing and evaluation of various tender proposal.

With the completion of the newly set up service centre in Labuan and Miri, TMS is ready to penetrate further into the maintenance services in East Malaysia in the near future. This strategy is timely given the robust upstream activities in the deepwater blocks off the coast of Sabah and Sarawak such as Kikeh, Kebabangan, Kakap and Gumusut in Sarawak which are expected to go full development and production by 2007.

In addition of being accredited by ISO 9001, TMS has also embarked on a Web based Computerized Repair Management System (CRMS). With the set up of this system, TMS would be in the forefront in providing our customers with the status of repair items. All repair works can also be easily tracked, monitored and controlled effectively.

Apart from that , TMS is also continuing to expand its range of maintenance services from purely mechanical hardware works to include preventive & predictive maintenance technologies, reliability and knowledge based maintenance technologies will put TMS as well as the Tanjung Group as a whole, in the forefront of the maintenance services within the oil and gas industry.
